Werder’s interim coach Danijel Zenkovic and Midfielder Nicolai Rapp will not be available for Saturday’s away fixture against Holstein Kiel. Both tested positive for Coronavirus on Monday. Zenkovic and Rapp, who are both fully vaccinated, are already quarantining at home. All other players and staff tested negative on Tuesday.

“Both had symptoms and their PCR-Tests came back positive. It’s not yet clear whether they caught the virus in private or with the team,” explained Werder’s team doctor Dr. Daniel Hellermann.

Nicolai Rapp will therefore be out for the second game in a row, having missed the game against FC Schalke 04 due to suspension. U19s coach Christian Brand will lead the team’s training sessions over the next few days with support from ex Werder Bremen player Cedric Makiadi.

Alongside Zenkovic and Rapp, Nick Woltemade and Milos Veljkovic (both in recovery) as well as Manuel Mbom, Ilia Gruev and Mitchell Weiser (all training individually) were also not in training on Tuesday. The three training individually will be back with the team in the coming days.
